02/27/2009 - Santa Clara, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Josh Heytvelt scored a career-high 29 points and 17th-ranked Gonzaga took advantage of an unruly crowd to beat Santa Clara, 81-73, at Leavey Center.
Matt Bouldin had 23 points for the Bulldogs (22-5, 13-0 WCC), who can wrap up a perfect conference mark with a Saturday win at San Diego. Austin Daye scored 12 and Jeremy Pargo had 10 points for Gonzaga in its 20th straight West Coast Conference regular season win.
The Bulldogs are on the verge of wrapping up their third undefeated WCC season. In the current alignment of the West Coast Conference which has been in effect since the 1980-81 season, no team has gone undefeated three times in conference play.
John Bryant scored 16 and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Broncos (14-16, 6-7), who lost their second straight. Kevin Foster tallied 20 points, while James Rahon scored 16 and Marc Trasolini 14 in defeat.
Rahon's free throw tied the game at 56 with 7:50 remaining, but the Bulldogs went on an 11-2 spurt. Bouldin hit two free throws when a technical was called on the home team after a fan threw a bottle on the court.
Santa Clara coach Kerry Keating took the microphone and told the crowd to stop throwing objects on the court, but later a piece of balled up tin foil was thrown from the stands on the court, leading to a pair of free throws for Bouldin.
"That's unfortunate, but you have to do something too," said Gonzaga coach Mark Few. "I think the bottle hit one of our players the first time or it looked like that. It's too bad. There's no place for it in college or professional basketball, or any sport."
The Bulldogs raced to a 17-8 lead, but Santa Clara rallied and took a 31-28 lead with nearly six minutes left. It was 36-35 Gonzaga at the half.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds
Will he or won't he? Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.
Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.
"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."
Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.
Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.
But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.
Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback. It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.
